JUDY MEDLICOTT On Saturday, February 10, 2001 at Concordia Hospital, Judy Medlicott was delivered into Gods grace. Born Judith Rose Pearson in Winnipeg, January 13, 1947, she was raised in West Kildonan. Judy attended West Kildonan Collegiate. With hopes of pursuing a nursing career, Judy was enrolled in, and excelled at the St. Johns Ambulance program. Judy was later employed as a bookkeeper. Judy was a very gifted crafter. Examples of her exquisitely turned out work include the many knitted outfits for babies and children. Judy loved to write poetry, another gift. Some of Judys poems were submitted for publication as part of a womens poetry anthology. Judys life was fraught with many challenges to her health, increasingly so in recent years. She strove to meet these obstacles with her faith. Despite these physical limitations, Judy endeavoured to give back to her community by doing volunteer work. Her volunteer affiliations included Teen Touch, the North End Womens Centre, the Reh-Fit Centre, and her churchs Food Bank. Judy was a loving mother, and a devoted "Nana" to her grandchildren, Pierce and Brianna. She was known as "Nana Judy" to Cathys children, Lailah and Yasmin. Her warmth and softness will be missed by the children and indeed by all who knew her. Judys membership in the Kilcona Park Alliance Church was a bright spot in her life. The loving ministrations of the pastors and fellow members provided Judy with a sense of belonging, purpose and solace. She loved the music program of the church. It gladdened her heart to listen to the voices of praise lifted in song. Mourning Judy are relatives, Diana Pearson, her daughters, Christina and Justine, Aunt Lea Montrose, of British Columbia; immediate family, Leanne (Lyall) and their children, Pierce and Brianna; and special friends, Cathy and Sharon. The family appreciates Pastor Kens attendance at hospital, and thanks him for all his help. Judys service was held at Kilcona Park Alliance Church, Wednesday, February 14. If so desired, donations may be made in Judys memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6. Judys generosity of spirit far surpassed her material wealth. Her loving goodness is her legacy with friendship Judys gift of remembrance to us.
